Has this nation become so lax in prayer that we have to declare a national day to remind people to come together in prayer? No wonder this nation is in this state of moral decay. People aren’t humbling themselves to pray, let alone praying at all. How will God hear from heaven if we don’t pray? Our nation will not be what it once was as long as we take a single day out of the entire year to pray. In Scotland, 30 men met in a barn until 3 or 4 in the morning for months. The result? The town bar was closed, it’s been closed ever since and today lies in ruins. People would crowd the local church to repent of their sins; there was no formal announcement that the church was even open, no advertising. People were found face down along the roads crying out to God, because God made them aware of their sin. It was said that every young person age 12 to 20 became a Christian within 48 hours. I don’t want to discount the fact that our government has officially recognized a day of prayer. I just want to say that it takes more than a day of prayer to change a nation. I want to see national days of prayer; not government sanctioned events once a year, but a yearning to see God change a nation - a yearning so strong men will pray all hours of the day and night, not stopping until God heals their land. Meet for this day of prayer, but don’t let the end of the day be the end of prayer. Let it be the beginning.
