I just wanted to take a moment to let all you readers know what’s been going on with the book that started this blog. Dr. King, the author and a writer on this blog, has been appearing on numerous radio and television shows. This morning, he was on The Harvest Show, produced by LeSEA Broadcasting. If you missed it, you can catch him again at 10 PM and 2 AM Eastern time. That’s 9 and 1 here in Texas. If you don’t get LeSEA, you can watch it online, at www.harvest-tv.com.

In addition to The Harvest Show, Dr. King has been invited to appear on CBN, and Focus on the Family. He has also appeared on radio shows in Nashville, Seattle, Ft. Worth and others. you can listen to some of those appearances at www.guythingpress.com.

Excerpt from Show me the Money - available January 1st from Guy Thing Press

A friend of mine told me once that life can be summed up in three words: Leadership, Relationship and Stewardship. You and I don’t own the things we have, we are only stewards of them. So it is with money. I believe it is peoples bad attitude towards money that robs them from every seeing God bless and their lives and bring them increase.

If we could realize that we are stewards of the finances we have and not owners, then our approach to getting it, having it, and holding it would be different. Some people feel guilty and uncomfortable with wealth. They justify why they don’t have it, and justify why others shouldn’t have it either.

I people say “ I don’t want to make money, I just want to go on the mission fields of South America and start orphanages”, or “ I just want to help the poor” or my personal favorite “I don’t want to make money, I just want to plant a church”. My question to all of these people is how will you do it? Invariably they tell me that God will supply there needs which leads to my next question of How will God supply your needs to which they screw up there faith and quote something asinine like - well if it is His visions, it is His provision. Sitting around watching your family starve on the mission field is a really dumb place to start to wonder about whether or not it is His will for your life.

You have got the faith but you need to get practical. It takes money to pay the bills, money to feed the poor and money to start a ministry. It is very easy to say God will supply, but the method he always uses is people. But it is selfish to believe that that responsibility should fall on someone else shoulders. Friend God is your Heavenly Father, not your Fairy Godmother.

I have been working on my latest book Show me the Money - five chapters written so far.

I will use some chapters for the Guy Thing Mag in January, but it will be available in complete book form at that time.

This will bring the total number of books for Guy Thing Press up to six - not bad for the first 3 months of being in existence as a publishing company!!

I was approached by Phoenix & Phoenix, a well know publicist and promotional organization, who are wanting to do a nation wide campaign for Guy Thing.There aim is to bring nation wide attention to the book and get the ‘message and the man out there’.

They work with organizations and outlets like USA Today, Good Morning America, Larry King, CNN. Mostly secular and non-Christian organizations. Which i think is great. The appeal of Guy Thing is to a great audience - men in need everywhere!

I asked them about there previous clients and they told me:

We have handled such a wealth of high-profile ministries during our history (from John Hagee to John Maxwell to Stormie Omartian to Vicki Courtney to Stephen Baldwin to Ed Young), along with campaigns from major Christian publishing houses (Harvest House, Zondervan, Baker Publishing Group, Thomas Nelson, B&H Publishing Group, WaterBrook Press and a few others all have active accounts with us), we do have great contacts at most Christian media outlets (including the ones you mention).

The thought is that once we build a platform with these organizations we have a vehicle to be a force for the kingdom within the church and the community.

Destiny Image have asked me if I would like them to do a special catalogue featuring It’s a Guy ThingThey will give me the front cover for a full write up on the book and about how the men’s ministry torch was passed to Beccy and I by Dr Ed Cole’s board.

They will also give me an inside front cover and two more pages to promote all of the resources available to men that we have at International Men’s Network.

This mail out will go out to their 60 000 people mailing list and then to the people on our mailing list. Initially about 10 000 and then another 50 000 and then the final 90 000. That is a mailing out to some 310 000 people!

If you combine this with the big push in Family Christian Bookstores - what a launch! It has been incredible watching this event unfold, week after week.

Now you all need to buy books next week from the imn store. If you buy it in the month of September I will personally sign them and even personalize them if you want to give them as a gift to someone!

So drop by the online store.

Had a wonderful surprise just the other day.

Family Christian Stores (FCS) told my publisher that they believe could be the next ‘James Dobson - Raising Boys’! What a complement. To even be thought of in that company!

FCS wants to do a big nation wide promo.
