Life Is An Opportunity

Posted by Dr John King on 28 Nov 2006 | Tagged as: Life |

Beccy and I are living a life filled with opportunity. The opportunity to raise children. The opportunity to run an international organization. The oppurtunity to run a great church. The opportunity to enjoy rich and fulfilling friendships. Opportunities to travel. Continual opportunities to expand our ministry and pioneer new endeavors. There are challenges; there have been trials, and there will be more. That’s life. But what wonderful opportunities life presents.

There are times when it can seem like others have fantastic opportunities opening up for them, but it feels like those doors stay closed for you. God doesn’t have favorites, so why should this be?

Is it luck? Is it coincidence? Maybe it’s fate? None of these!
Why is it always someone else who is in the right place at the right time? Perhaps you think they have the right connections. They know the right people. “They must have cut corners”, you say, “They’re just one of those pushy-type people.” But that describes an OPPORTUNIST. And OPPORTUNISM will never produce GODLY OPPORTUNITY.

So, where does opportunity come from? If it is not luck or coincidence, fluke or fate, what is it? Opportunity belongs to everybody. It belongs to you. Opportunity is your collision with destiny becasue time and chance is given to us all.
Your life should not be lacking in new and fresh opportunities and there are five clearly identifiable steps to living a life which is continually producing God-inspired opportunity:
(1) Desire
(2) Decisions
(3) Position
(4) Endurance
(5) Initiative

Ted Haggard - Dr King’s comments…condeming?

Posted by Dennis on 10 Nov 2006 | Tagged as: Manhood |

I don’t think Dr Kings comments constitute “condemnation”. It seems to me that it simply points out the underlying issues that brought about the sin. Consider the following post in the blog:
—————————-
“This is an issue of fundamental brokenness in the area of his manhood. Ted might be a sound leader, might be a sound husband or a father, but unless he is a sound man - he is limited in terms of who he is and what he can become.

Your talent can take you places that your character can’t sustain you.

If you don’t deal with who you are as a man, you can never reach your potential as husband and father let alone touching the world in a meaningful way over time.”
—————————

Both of the Biblical men mentioned in the comment were used by the Holy Ghost as examples to send a message of warning to men of all ages that behavior like this will lead to misery, pain, and destruction to them and to multitudes of people around them.

David’s sin cost him the life of his sons and the stability of his family and his kingdom.

Samson’s cost him his freedom, his eyesight and eventually his life. And though his story of faith and might are renown, he brought about no lasting change in the nation due to his inability to be obedient.

Both men’s inability to curb their sexual appetites led them to destruction. God’s desire and ability to bless these men in the midst of their sin in no way minimizes his disapproval of it.

Your Financial Attitude Will Determine Your Financial Altitude

Posted by Dr John King on 08 Nov 2006 | Tagged as: Guy Thing Book |

Excerpt from Show me the Money - available January 1st from Guy Thing Press

————-

A friend of mine told me once that life can be summed up in three words: Leadership, Relationship and Stewardship. You and I don’t own the things we have, we are only stewards of them. So it is with money. I believe it is peoples bad attitude towards money that robs them from every seeing God bless and their lives and bring them increase.

If we could realize that we are stewards of the finances we have and not owners, then our approach to getting it, having it, and holding it would be different. Some people feel guilty and uncomfortable with wealth. They justify why they don’t have it, and justify why others shouldn’t have it either.

I people say “ I don’t want to make money, I just want to go on the mission fields of South America and start orphanages”, or “ I just want to help the poor” or my personal favorite “I don’t want to make money, I just want to plant a church”. My question to all of these people is how will you do it? Invariably they tell me that God will supply there needs which leads to my next question of How will God supply your needs to which they screw up there faith and quote something asinine like - well if it is His visions, it is His provision. Sitting around watching your family starve on the mission field is a really dumb place to start to wonder about whether or not it is His will for your life.

You have got the faith but you need to get practical. It takes money to pay the bills, money to feed the poor and money to start a ministry. It is very easy to say God will supply, but the method he always uses is people. But it is selfish to believe that that responsibility should fall on someone else shoulders. Friend God is your Heavenly Father, not your Fairy Godmother.

Officer Claims Wife Put Pot in Meatballs

NEW YORK (AP) - A detective suspended after testing positive for drugs says his wife served him meatballs spiked with marijuana because she wanted to keep him out of harm’s way by forcing him into retirement.

An administrative judge believed him, and recommended this week that Anthony Chiofalo be reinstated.

Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly has yet to decide what to do.

“We can’t comment because the matter will still come before the police commissioner for a final determination,” said spokesman Paul Browne.

Chiofalo, a 22-year-veteran assigned to the Joint Terrorism Task Force, was suspended without pay last year after a random drug test found marijuana in his system. The officer denied ever using drugs and demanded a hearing.

During an investigation, his wife said she had substituted marijuana for oregano in her meatball recipe in hopes of forcing him to leave police work.

The detective’s lawyers also presented evidence that she had passed a lie-detector test, and offered testimony from a toxicologist that the excuse was valid.

Dead People Vote, Why Can’t You?

Posted by Cliff Burns on 06 Nov 2006 | Tagged as: Random |

The Poughkeepsie Journal recently published an article which states 2,600 people in New York City voted. Democrats outvoted Republicans 4 to 1. What’s so special about that? Those 2,600 people are dead. Now the Journal does state that clerical error, not voter fraud, is the cause for so many dead people turning up at the polls. Still, that just leads me to think that there really is no excuse for not voting this election day.

Ted Haggard

Posted by Dr John King on 06 Nov 2006 | Tagged as: Manhood |

I dont understand this whole Ted Haggard deal.

What would make a man bring such shame on the casue of Christ when he was doing so much good?

Did he think he wouldn’t get caught?

Did he think no one would recognize him?

Did he think he was above it all?

Now we all make mistakes, but this is no mistake.

10 Rules of generating wealth

Posted by Dr John King on 06 Nov 2006 | Tagged as: Wealth |

1) Pay your tithe.

Malachi 3:8-12.
“Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. “But you ask, `How do we rob you?’ “In tithes and offerings.
You are under a curse–the whole nation of you–because you are robbing me.
Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.
I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit,” says the LORD Almighty.
“Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,” says the LORD Almighty.”

It rebukes the devourer and opens the storehouse of heaven. This is foundation to your success.

You turn away wrath with a kind word.
You turn the other cheek to a hostile man
Your first steps in breaking the poverty cycle is giving your tithe, and sowing your offerings wisely into ground that will produce fruit.

Your first 10% always belongs to God.

2) Pay yourself the second 10%.

We pay every body else first before we pay ourself.

We should pay ourselves first, then pay our bills diligently.

This is the foundation key to generational wealth.
