January 2008Monthly Archive Somewhere In the MiddlePosted by Dr John King on 16 Jan 2008 | Tagged as: Uncategorized | Armenians say that sinners are commanded to repent, therefore they must be able; Hyper-Calvanist say that sinners are not able, therefore they can not be commanded. But scripture sets forth both man’s inability and his duty and both truths are a necessary part of evangelism - the former reveals the sinners need of a help which only God can give and the latter, which is expressed in the exhortations, promises and invitations of scripture shows him the place in which his peace and safety lies, namely, the person of the Son of God….and this is the position that we must always take. (In fact it was the position of Calvin and Spurgeon.) We must always take mans duty to repent and at the same time his inability to do so and apply both of them to sinners conscience. A ‘Born-Again’ moment is not an altar call, is not a decision but a collision with a living God and it is a fearsome and wonderful thing! Will God Shut His Ears?Posted by Cliff Burns on 10 Jan 2008 | Tagged as: Devotions | Some thoughts from my Bible reading today…
Can you imagine what it would be like if God closed His ears to our intercession? If our nation reached a point where its evil spurned God’s wrath? How close we must be. As a nation, we do not listen to the word of God. Abominations have become common, and even to speak against such abominations is called intolerance, or worse, a crime of hate. Churches are starting to preach the non-existence of hell and God’s judgment. Some churches are even starting to preach the non-existence of God Himself. Will God shut His ears to us? Will He be so resolved to the judgment of our nation that no prayer can stop it? Have we gone so far as a nation that this may happen? We must resolve to speak Truth; the Word, and only the Word. We must repent, as a nation, from the gross sin we commit freely. We must obey the Word of the Lord. May we never reach a place where God won’t hear our prayers for our people because of the sin of our people. Sugar is the Sweetest Poison of ALL by Dr. Rajesh VishwanathanPosted by Dr John King on 09 Jan 2008 | Tagged as: Uncategorized | This is a BRILLIANT ARTICLE “If only a small fraction of what is already known about the effects of sugar were to be revealed in relation to any other material used as a food additive, that material would promptly be banned.” Our sugar consumption has hit the roof. Americans are eating more sugar than their ancestors. The exact figure is not known but it is estimated that it is over 120 pounds per person per year and that is an awful lot. Among carbohydrates there are simple carbohydrates and there are complex carbohydrates that are found in starches. In nature sugars are found in an unrefined state in foods such as cane sugar, sugar beets, fruits, in corn and rice. Even most vegetables have fair amounts of natural sugar and there is little problem in eating them; as they are totally digestible unless you suffer from food allergies. |
